Veteran Indian actor Satish Shah died on October 25, 2025, in Mumbai at age 74. P.D. Hinduja Hospital said he was found unresponsive at home; CPR began in the ambulance and continued at the hospital, where he was declared dead. The hospital and filmmaker Ashoke Pandit attributed the cause to kidney failure; Shah had undergone a kidney transplant earlier. His last rites are scheduled for October 26 at Pawan Hans cremation ground in Vile Parle. He is survived by his wife, designer Madhu Shah.
Shah’s four-decade career spanned television and film. He became a household name with “Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi” (1984), in which he played 55 different characters, and later as Indravadan Sarabhai in the cult sitcom “Sarabhai vs Sarabhai” (2004–06; 2017). On the big screen, he was celebrated for “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro” (1983) and appeared in hits including “Main Hoon Na” (2004) and “Kal Ho Naa Ho” (2003). A Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) alumnus, Shah’s death prompted tributes from colleagues across the industry.
